“A man with a heart of gold” - Cricket fraternity pays tribute as veteran industrialist Ratan Tata dies aged 86 USA

On Wednesday, October 9, Ratan Tata, the former chairman of the Tata Group, one of the biggest and most powerful economic giants in India, passed away. On Monday, October 7, the 86-year-old man was brought to Breach Candy Hospital in south Mumbai for treatment of age-related health problems and to control his blood pressure. He died two days later.

From 1990 until 2012, the Indian industrialist and philanthropist led Tata Group and Tata Sons. From October 2016 to February 2017, he assumed the position of acting chairman in an acting capacity.

Cricket fans paid tribute to Ratan Tata on social media as India grieved the loss of its seasoned businessman and Padma Vibhushan recipient. Below are a few of their responses:

“An organization that personified humility, vision, and quality. An exceptional philanthropist. a great loss to the community. To the entire Tata family, my condolences. God bless his soul,” wrote Ravi Shastri, a former Indian player and coach.

Vice-President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rajeev Shukla, expressed his feelings about Ratan Tata’s passing on X. He penned:

I was deeply heartbroken to learn about Ratan Tata’s passing, the grand père of Indian enterprise. Incomparable in his contribution to the Indian economy, he was also a lovely man. RIP.
In the meantime, India defeated Bangladesh by 86 runs in the second round of their three-match Twenty20 International series on Wednesday in Delhi.
