Attack on Titan doesn't get Crunchyroll's Anime of the Year nomination
The nominations for Crunchyroll’s Anime of the Year award were revealed on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. It was unexpected that Attack on Titan: Final Season – The Final Chapters was left off the list. It was unable to secure a spot among the top six anime for the Anime Awards in 2024.

Although some fans may believe that the anime was unjustly excluded from the nominations, the voting method for the anime awards is the only reason it was not included.
Only anime that had at least one episode air on television or the internet in Japan between October 2022 and September 2023 was eligible for nomination by the judges, according to the voting procedure. You would assume Attack on Titan could make the cut with that. Regretfully, on October 17, 2023, the first round of voting was completed.
The first episode was taken into consideration since Attack on Titan: Final Season – The Final Chapters Special Episode 1 was originally published on March 4, 2023. With regard to the second special episode, which was made available much later on November 5, 2023, it was not the case.
Therefore, it’s possible that the judges did not think Attack on Titan was a worthy contender for the prize, given that only one of the two special episodes was published prior to the conclusion of the voting session. Nevertheless, strangely enough, given that the special episode 2 was shown in November 2023, there is a possibility that it may receive an anime award nomination for 2025.
