Boruto's eye may not be injured at all, and Momoshiki is both to thank for its healing, and blame for its lack of use USA
The first teaser for the Boruto series showed Boruto and Kawaki fighting, with Boruto using what appeared to be a brand-new, unique dojutsu. The protagonist’s refusal to even open his eye has prompted many fans to assume that there is a far deeper purpose behind these actions, even though the manga did explain that the protagonist was attacked by Kawaki and lost his right eye.
Considering that the protagonist was rendered helpless by Jura in chapter 12, it is plausible that further information regarding the eye will be disclosed in chapter 13 of the Blue Vortex manga.
Boruto might be suppressing Momoshiki by not using his right eye

In manga chapter 78, the protagonist is betrayed by Kawaki and loses his right eye. Many have remarked that Naruto’s son seems to never utilize his eye after the time skip and keeps it tightly closed, despite the fact that this eye was revealed to be the “special eye” in the first Kawaki vs. Boruto preview before the series’ premiere.
Though it’s likely that his wounded eye is still utterly useless and is kept closed, it should be recalled that Momoshiki has repeatedly used his own power over Naruto’s son and has already given him the Karma seal. Momoshiki may have cured Boruto’s previous eye injury because he eventually plans to take control of the protagonist’s body.
Given Momoshiki’s reputation for intelligence and cunning, it stands to reason that he may have repaired his vessel’s eye while maintaining a spyhole in the healed area.
Although it hasn’t been mentioned specifically, Kurama and Naruto had a similar circumstance in which they shared sensations including vision and hearing because Naruto was Kurama’s vessel. Kurama did not exploit this for any malicious purposes, but Momoshiki’s situation is quite different. Being inside the protagonist and learning about the outside world would only serve to strengthen him.
It’s possible that Naruto’s son is avoiding using Momoshiki’s abilities because Momoshiki has already managed to fully enslave the protagonist and cause real harm to Sasuke and his other friends.
It’s possible that the protagonist is keeping Momoshiki from becoming blind with his right eye because he knows the danger of letting him learn about the world around him. This may also account for the markings that the main character activates in the teaser when he uses the special eye to battle Kawaki.
Final Thoughts
The protagonist’s wound may be the only explanation for why he has been keeping it closed. Although the first teaser did establish that a special eye was present in that same spot, the special eye has not yet made an appearance in the manga itself. On August 20, 2024, Boruto Two Blue Vortex chapter 13 will be released. It will disclose the protagonist’s destiny following his or her death injuries at the hands of Jura.
