The One Piece manga has been at its best lately, and events on Egghead Island are becoming hotter. Nobody knows what Oda has planned for the next chapters, with Kuma now showing up unexpectedly and attempting to save his only daughter, Bonny. The same can be said about Saturn’s future, as he is going to have to deal with his father’s wrath.

But throughout all of these changes, one important player has said nothing, and no one knows where it is. One of the primary adversaries in this series is Blackbeard. The Blackbeard pirates’ direction towards Egghead Island was verified in chapter 1079, but their exact location has not been disclosed since.

Naturally, fans have been wondering if this monster has any cunning intentions once more, as to when he stole Whitebeard’s devil fruit when he was at his most vulnerable during the Paramount War. A lot of people are also wondering if he will be important to the continuing Saturn story.

Please take note that there may be One Piece manga series spoilers in this article.

One Piece: The appearance of Blackbeard during the Saturn saga makes sense in many ways

Blackbeard's interest in Seraphim models

Fans watched Blackbeard battle the Seraphim model S-Hawk (Mihawk) in One Piece episode 1087. The combat did not last long, but what made it crucial was Blackbeard’s response upon seeing the physical characteristics of a Seraphim.

He was actually fascinated by the way the World Government created a new Pacifista model, but with Lunarian characteristics this time.

The Worst Generation of Pirates’ pastimes were verified by Oda in the SBS part of volume 82 of One Piece. Blackbeard’s interests are listed in this SBS as “gambling and historical research.”

Given that Vegapunk created these enormous robots, it seems logical that Blackbeard would go out of his way to visit Egghead, given the significance of Lunarians in One Piece’s past.

In addition, Blackbeard’s future goals are disclosed in chapter 1080; he intends to establish his own pirate nation. He kidnapped Koby since it was obvious that the World Government could never let a criminal kingdom to flourish in the open.

When Garp came to help him, Aokiji triumphed. Fans may have noticed that, as a captive, Garp is much worse than Koby since, having disregarded higher-ups’ orders to come save Koby, the World Government is unlikely to give saving him any thought. Blackbeard must thus now devise a more persuasive plan to persuade the Five Elders or the World Government to let him to expand his kingdom.

Kuma has currently pushed Saint Saturn to a breaking point. This indicates that he has a lot of blind spots, so it wouldn’t be shocking if Blackbeard entered Saturn unexpectedly and kidnapped him. Given that one of the Five Elders is of the highest importance, this would compel the World Government to accept his demands.

As absurd as it may appear, Blackbeard is able to achieve this because there is still more to learn about his devil fruit. Additionally, he is infamous for having stolen Whitebeard’s devil fruit when weakened and crippled during the Paramount War. This, then, would constitute a “Blackbeard move” should he succeed.

In One Piece chapter 925, Gecko Moria travels to Beehive Island, where Blackbeard is lodging, in order to free his crewmate Absalom, who was kidnapped by Blackbeard Pirates. Sadly, Absalom had already perished, so Blackbeard used the occasion to extend an invitation to Moria to join his pirate company.

Gecko Moria, a haughty pirate, turned down his offer and was put in jail without disclosing anything else. Following Vegapunk York’s betrayal of everyone, Vegapunk Shaka (Punk- 01) is officially declared dead in chapter 1077. After visiting Elbaf Island covertly and memorizing all that was left behind, Vegapunk Shaka was the version that was fully aware of the events surrounding the Ohara Incident.

As was said in the first paragraph, Blackbeard enjoys both historical research and gambling. Now that Shaka is dead, Blackbeard wants a devil fruit user to bring him back to life so he may learn the mysteries of the Void Century. The Shadow-Shadow Fruit, which Gecko Moria is now in possession of, is that devil fruit user.

The Shadow-Shadow Fruit gives its owner mastery over shadows and the ability to zombify deceased individuals by using their shadows. Given Gecko Moria’s present state of misery, it wouldn’t be shocking if he showed up to Egghead Island dressed as a Blackbeard Pirate.

Final thoughts

Mysteries are now being unveiled, giving the impression that One Piece has truly reached its last tale for the first time. With Kizaru now apparently shifting sides and Kuma set to exact his revenge on Saint Saturn, the emotions are high as the Egghead Island Arc could be approaching its conclusion.
