Envious of Kirie’s attention, Kyoko grew her hair in a similar way, which resulted in a confrontation. Shuichi bravely chopped Kirie’s hair at the right moment, saving her life. But even the victor, Kyoko, was depleted of her life power by her own hair.

Mitsuru, a classmate who is fixated on Kirie, was also introduced in this episode. Mitsuru stalked and scared Kirie despite her lack of desire. He attempted to stop a car in a frantic attempt to show his love, but he died in a terrible collision.

The episode ended with Kirie’s brother Mitsuo and a few other children exploring a lighthouse that had been abandoned for years before it unexpectedly flared up. Kirie trailed after them and had an incredibly scary experience going up the stairs while coming across dead bodies.

She found that the lens had melted into a spiral shape at the top. She and her brother were able to flee after realizing that the light reflected through it could heat the entire room; one youngster, however, was not so fortunate and perished from burns.
