“This trophy belongs to all the Mumbaikars” - Ajinkya Rahane after winning the Irani Cup 2024

Mumbai skipper Ajinkya Rahane acknowledged Sarfaraz Khan and Tanush Kotian for their noteworthy contributions during the post-match presentation. Additionally, he stated that all Mumbaikars and club cricket players are entitled to this trophy. He said:

Winning after 27 years seems like a special feeling. We knew before the game we were up against a very good team. Since we play at the Wankhede and are familiar with the red-soil wicket’s characteristics, we decided to bat first. Every session counts in a five-day game. Sarfaraz, everyone batted well, but I would want to specifically mention Tanush, who was outstanding both in this game and the previous season.

Rahane continued, as reported by Cricbuzz, “This trophy belongs to all the Mumbaikars, all the maidaan people, club cricketers. I want to play the game in the right way and be truthful to the game.”
